Can you describe your career path leading up to your current role at Canopy?
I spent 20 years teaching a wide range of creative and technology-based subjects, including film, media, design, photography, and ICT. In addition to this, I also served as a Pastoral Lead for a large Post-16 cohort, helping support students beyond academics. My journey also included leading the Interactive Digital Design department at The Brit School for Performing and Creative Arts before transitioning to Canopy. Throughout my career, my focus has been on empowering young people by combining creativity and technology, equipping them with the skills and confidence to thrive in a rapidly evolving world.

What do you love most about what you do?
I absolutely love connecting with educators who share a passion for how technology can not only transform education but also engage and improve equity for young people. It’s inspiring to work in an environment where we can collaborate and create impactful solutions that make a real difference in young learners' lives.
What are you most proud of achieving in your career so far?
I’m most proud of my career in state education, where I contributed to making creative arts education accessible to all students, especially those from diverse backgrounds. By doing so, I helped nurture a new generation of voices in the creative industries, which is critical for ensuring a broader range of perspectives in the arts. I’m relatively new to Canopy and am excited to continue this work by leveraging digital creativity to empower even more young people. I look forward to collaborating with educators around the world to unlock new opportunities for learning and creative expression through technology.

What's that one thing you do really well that makes you a valuable part of the Canopy team?
I excel at bringing creative technology to life in ways that directly apply to real-world creative scenarios. By bridging the gap between theory and practice, I help our team, partners, and educators visualise the tangible impact and possibilities of creative tech. This ensures that the tools we work with aren’t just concepts, but real solutions that can inspire, engage, and transform learning experiences.
What are some of your hobbies and interests outside of work?
I’m a big fan of sci-fi and fantasy fiction, and I enjoy long walks—especially near water, which I find peaceful and inspiring. I also love spending time with my family and friends, which keeps me grounded and connected to what matters most.

If you had to be a type of tree, what would you be and why?
I would be a Willow Tree, as it is often associated with intuition, creativity, and artistic flow—qualities that resonate with me personally and professionally. Willows are also found near water, a setting I deeply enjoy.
